CinePro is the hottest new video camera app on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

There’s a video camera app in town, and this one is a doozy!

CinePro for iPhone offers an enormous degree of control, hidden behind in an absurdly intuitive interface, all for very little cash. In addition to controls for zoom, frame rate, ISO (say what?!), white balance, exposure, focus, and aspect ratio, the app also offers a huge selection of real-time filters (most of which require an additional purchase). Frankly, I don’t really care that much about the filters (even though I bought every one). I fell in love because of the clean layout, and ease of use.

A recent update added live histograms, a framing grid, and iPad (and iPod touch) compatibility.

The app isn’t perfect. It lacks audio meters, and some of its settings are reset the moment you hit the record button. In other words, you have to start the recording, and THEN set your exposure. Very odd. Fortunately, there have been enough people yapping about this, so I’m guessing Mind Diaper, the app’s developer, will be releasing an update that addresses these issues very soon.

Even with its rough spots, I’m a big fan of CinePro. It’s clearly worth more than the buck they’re currently charging, and you’re not obligated to buy any of the other filters.

Sadly, this app has been killed off
