I just received an email blast from the folks at Final Draft. Looks like their long-awaited iPad version is coming in Spring of 2011. The email goes on to say that the mobile version (called Final Draft 8 Mobile) will work with Final Draft FDX files, which means you can easily move your scripts back and fourth, between your desktop and iPad!
If you want to stay informed about their iOS release, you can sign up for their monthly newsletter in the upper right corner of their homepage. And, of course, we’ll be reporting all the latest right here on HHH.
If you can’t wait until Spring, there are a number of great screenwriting apps (for iPad & iPhone) already available in the App Store. Check out ScriptWrite, Scripts Pro, Celtx and Screenplay.

Hooray! Finally!
I’ve used Celtx for a while, but I’m ready to give final draft a shot. Any idea what it will cost?
FD is great on my mac, but it might be tough to use on an ipad. Bluetooth keyboard is must!
Hello,
I’ve received their mail too. The text on the message made me belive the app will not have all features we find on the desktop software. Do you agree? Read it:
"The Final Draft version 8 mobile app for iOS will work with Final Draft version 8 FDX files, allowing you to make edits and notes on the go for greater mobility. Plus, you can easily move the same script from iPad or iPhone to desktop and back."
A keyboard will definitely be a must, but be CAREFUL. I got a very nice keyboard/cover combination. I tested the feel at the Brookstone store, loved it, bought it, brought it home, installed it, and began to type. That’s when I discovered it only has ONE SHIFT KEY, on the left! Cursor arrows instead are on the right. Stupidest design ever. So much for typing with the flow of thought.
