Green screen images from 2084

I’ve written a lot about green screen shooting lately, so I’m going to keep this short.  As I mentioned a few posts back, I recently directed a short film called 2084, and relied heavily on an awesome iOS app called Green Screener. The app helps you light your green screen evenly to ensure a better composite. Check out the previous post for all the details.

Since 2084 is having its world premiere tonight (at the Palm Springs International ShortFest), I figured this would be a good time to show you a few of the green screen composites from the film. Thanks in large part to Green Screener, my shots keyed quite easily — all 57 of them!

If you’d like to learn more about 2084, here’s the film’s official website (along with the trailer and screening times).

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
