HHH heading to NAB and the SuperMeet

We’re making PB&J sandwiches, packing up the minivan, and heading to Vegas!

We’re involved in two NAB events this year.

First, I’ll be giving an iPad-centric presentation at the Post Pit on Monday from 3:30 to 4pm.  The Post Pit is located at the back of the lower South Hall.  SL12205.  There are a LOT of terrific speakers planning on taking the Post Pit stage throughout the expo.  Totally worth checking out the schedule.

Next, HHH is hosting a vendor table at the Vegas SuperMeet!  I’ll be joined by four awesome developers, each showing their latest and greatest:

We’ve got Cinemek showing the newest evolution of Storyboard Composer (one of my personal favorites). PureBlend software will be presenting some terrific improvements in their MovieSlate (along with news of their recent Technicolor partnership). Moviola Studios will be showing off their incredibly useful digital video guides for iOS. And joining us for the first time, Doddle will be demonstrating their amazing call-sheet-on-the-go/production directory apps!

If that weren’t reason enough to come to this year’s SuperMeet… perhaps you’ve heard the rumors?  All of the scheduled SuperMeet speakers were canceled at the last minute because Apple is taking over the stage! Most everyone assumes they’re planning on unveiling the brand new version of Final Cut Studio for Mac.  This means SuperMeet may have just become THE event of NAB.  Good times!

Naturally, I’ll be covering the event for HHH, but sadly, I’ve only got about 6 hours on the floor.  I’ve got to race back to LA to continue directing a film for Disney.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to find some gems in that short time.

Hope to see you there!

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
