Introducing MOJOCON, The Mobile Journalism Conference!

I am profoundly excited to announce that I’ll be a guest speaker at the very first Mojocon, hitting Dublin, Ireland on March 27th! What is MojoCon? Allow me to quote the event’s website:

MojoCon Ireland is the first international conference focusing on mobile journalism, mobile filmmaking and mobile photography all in one event. The future is mobile, the future is now.

This is a two-day event with a list of guest speakers that reads like a Who’s Who of mobile journalism & filmmaking.  I’m proud to be included among their ranks.  If you’re interested in mobile media making, this is event you’ve been waiting for.

My session “Smartphone Filmmakers” is scheduled for March 27th, at 2pm.  I’ll be speaking alongside Conrad Mess (award-winning filmmaker), Michael Koerbel (award-winning filmmaker), Neill Barham (creator of FiLMiC Pro), and Ricky Fosheim (producer/director/editor of one of the first feature films shot entirely on an iPhone). This will be a fantastic session, and I’m hoping to meet some of my international readers.

Visit the MojoCon website to learn more about the event, and to get your tickets early (avoiding a sellout).  See you in Ireland!

Heading Into the Sunse— Hang on. I have a call.

Dear iPhone fanatics and filmmaking friends, This will be the final post for Hand Held Hollywood. To loyal HHH readers, I’m sure this feels somewhat overdue. Probably because it is.

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
