ShowBiz Expo ’10 – Studio Suite 9

Every so often, we’ll cover a Mac or PC application simply because it ties in so nicely with your iDevice. Such is the case with AlterMedia’s Studio Suite 9, a great looking system for facility and studio management.

All of the heavy lifting is done on your desktop computer or laptop.  Once configured, your data is wirelessly accessible via your mobile device.  An iPhone or iPod Touch can access the data via a webapp designed to look and feel like a native iOS app.  iPad access is more complete and allows you to edit your data in addition to viewing it.

I didn’t get to try it, but it sure sounds like a great idea.  I suspect it’s probably quite valuable to facility managers who are always out… you know… managing.

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
