FOLLOW-UP: SubCostume Custom Cases for iPad & iPhone

A few months back, I did a report from Macworld about custom iPhone and iPad cases from SubCostume. I thought it would be great for production companies to put their logos on their gear — a little self-promotion while you’re running around on set.

While at Macworld, members of the press were given promo codes so they could order sample cases for free. So, I got two cases, one for my iPhone 4 and the other for my iPad.  It took a long time for them to arrive, but I’ve now got ’em both.

So, should you get some for your company?  Well…maybe not.  Check out the full review:

Dear iPhone fanatics and filmmaking friends, This will be the final post for Hand Held Hollywood. To loyal HHH readers, I’m sure this feels somewhat overdue. Probably because it is.

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!

  1. Hi Taz,
Just wanted to let you know that my coworker bought one of the iPhone cases for our company, and it too arrived damaged. Not sure if he’s contacted the company about a refund or not.

I always enjoy your reviews. Thanks for your help!

  2. Sorry to hear about the case, Micah. I was REALLY hoping to love my cases. If your co-worker contacts the company, I’d love to know if they replaced the broken case (and how quickly). :)
