When I think about mobile filmmaking, I think Tom Cruise. And now, so will you!

I never imagined I’d say this, but if you want to learn more about low-budget mobile media making, you need to go to TomCruise.com.  Seriously.  Do it now.

The official Tom Cruise Blog has posted one of the best articles on mobile filmmaking I’ve read to date.  It covers a WIDE range of topics, from process to hardware to legal issues.  It includes some nice sample videos, and a solid glossary.

The only obvious mistake in their post? No mention of Hand Held Hollywood. What were they thinking? Joking aside (and I hate to admit this), the omission kinda bums me out. I guess we need to try harder. Can someone tell those guys about us, please?

Heading Into the Sunse— Hang on. I have a call.

Dear iPhone fanatics and filmmaking friends, This will be the final post for Hand Held Hollywood. To loyal HHH readers, I’m sure this feels somewhat overdue. Probably because it is.

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
