AJA has just released a new version of their much-loved digital media storage calculator, AJA DataCalc. 1st Video updated to support HD

Looks like our friends at Palm Sounds spotted a major update that we missed!  1st Video by Vericorder has been updated to version 2.1.2735.  The big news here is that the app now supports the importing, editing, and exporting of HD video at resolutions up to 1280×720 (assuming you have an HD capable iPhone 4 or iPod Touch running iOS 4.1).  Naturally, if you’re using an older device, you’re still limited to VGA resolutions. If you’re not already familiar with 1st Video, here’s a video tour.

NAB ’10 – Vericorder 1st Video

Sure, there were plenty of booths at NAB that cost more than most homes, but this is the product that really caught our eye.  1st Video from Vericorder is an outrageous looking video editor for the iPhone.  It looks and feels totally professional.  The interface is smooth and well thought out.  We’re very excited to put this app to work. Any day now, and will cost under ten smackers! This app is now called Voddio

Nexvio’s ReelDirector has already brought video editing to the iPhone, so it’s just a matter of time before the iPad gets the royal treatment. But, unlike the iPhone, the iPad has no built-in camera.  So, we’re going to need some other way of importing our footage. Introducing some other way.

Available as a free web app, VideoSpace v3 adds support for new ProRes codecs introduced in Final Cut Pro 7.  And since it’s a web app, it should work with any pint-sized web browser, not just the iPhone. Point your pocket to www.videospaceonline.com …and get ready to gasp in horror when you realize that you’ll need another 5 terabytes to finish your Elvis figurine documentary.

Foundry’s RollingShutter can Fix iPhone Jellocam

Ever shot video with an iPhone 3GS?  Ever tried panning, or shooting a fast moving subject?  If so, then you are no doubt aware of ‘rolling shutter.’  It’s that weird looking warble that makes everything look like it’s made of Jello… hence the commonly used term, Jellocam.  It’s not just the iPhone that suffers from this debilitating condition.  It effects many low cost digital cameras. But fear not, that wiggly, warbly, wangly (sorry, just needed a third w) footage may soon be jello-free!  The Foundry, a visual effects software company out of the U.K., has released the appropriately named Rolling
