Artemis Director’s Viewfinder gets a MAJOR update

Chemical Wedding has released a major update to their already indispensable Artemis Director’s Viewfinder ($29.99). Version 6 includes a welcome interface re-design, support for AirPlay (Apple’s wireless video protocol) and the ability to store meta-data filled snapshots in a built-in gallery. If you’re not already familiar with Artemis, it’s an app that turns your iPhone’s (or iPad’s) built-in camera into a full-blown, feature rich director’s viewfinder — a gizmo that directors and cinematographers use to line up shots without having to lug a camera all over set. Even though the app has received a lovely face-lift, existing users will feel right

New olloclip & Glif means your awesome iPhone 5 just got More Awesome!

Sure, the new iPhone looks simply fabulous since it lost all that weight. But the iPhone 5 is so thin, you might assume it’s sneaking off to the bathroom to purge after every meal (it’s not often you find eating disorder humor on a tech blog). This svelte form factor has rendered a lot of our existing 4/4S accessories utterly useless. Fortunately, two of the best filmmaking accessories have been updated to work with Apple’s new anorexic smartphone.

How I Spent my Summer Workation

With this post, I’m happy to announce the end of Hand Held Hollywood’s summer hiatus. I call it a ‘hiatus‘ to make it seem as if my absence was planned, which in fact, it wasn’t. The truth is, I am just now catching my breath after the events of a very turbulent summer. Here are a few highlights:

Final Draft WRITER Now Available for iPad! In a related story, hell freezes over!

They said it would never happen. They said it couldn’t be done. And yet… Final Draft has just released Final Draft Writer for iPad, a feature rich screenwriting app that has the potential to take over the market. I’ve been posting about this app for over two years. Not too long ago, Final Draft teased screenwriters with the release of Final Draft Reader, which contained no writing functions what so ever. This flustered more than a few iPad users. Did they wait too long to provide a screenwriting solution? Are there too many competitors already in place?  How the hell should I

Only days left to support the Stabil-i iPhone Stabilizer!

I’m not sure which is crazier: The fact that it’s been over a month since my last post, or that three of my last four posts (including this one) have been about Kickstarter.com campaigns!  Without further ado, let’s get to it! The Stabil-i needs your help if it’s going to make it to the marketplace. The product’s kickstarter campaign is rapidly nearing its end, with only a few days left. To learn more about the Stabil-i, read up on its history, and to “back the project,” visit kickstarter right now. Time is running out!The team at Austin’s Dynamo Innovations Group have

New on Kickstarter: Daylight Viewfinder for iPhone!

It seems like every 30 seconds, there’s another iPhone accessory launching on Kickstarter. Most are insanely silly, but every once in a while, a unique idea catches fire (the Glif is a great example). Now, Milwaukie’s Paul Anderson has introduced a Kickstarer campaign to fund his new iPhone accessory called the Daylight Viewfinder. The device attaches to your iPhones display, and allows for glare-free viewing while snapping photos, or more importantly, shooting video. The gizmo works in conjunction with a custom designed camera app. After glancing at the Kickstarter page, my first thought was “pffft.”  But, my second thought was, “Hey, wait
